Closed for the Season/Possibly Longer
Sorry, due to lack of funding and volunteers, this event has had to stop for now. Maybe down the road someone will get excited about it and open it up again. But that might have to wait until after our bridge is open again.
In the meantime, stop by alaboutsouthpark.com to find out the latest events and come support our businesses trying to hang in there until August 2013 when the bridge reopens.
Market on Wheels closes for this Year
Sorry to tell you that the Market on Wheels will close for the remainder of the 2010 season. The group will be reorganizing, taking stock and planning for a bigger better market next year. If you are interesting in helping, jump in and contact kate@ecoss.org
If you still want local organic veggies from Jose, he’ll be at his commercial plot at Marra Farm every Saturday while the veggies are still growing. You can come meet him there, he’ll pick it fresh right then for you. See him on Saturdays 10am – 2pm. On Sept. 18th he’ll be selling at Fiestas Patrias however at the community center in SP. Matter of fact a bunch of the market folks will be there at the fiesta.
It is with great honor I have had the chance to work on marketing for the market. I have learned a ton about markets, food permits, and what great neighbors I have. I have made some good friends. But I didn’t learn a lick of Spanish even with sitting through so many meetings. Whatup. Oh well. Thanks for the opportunity to work with you all. Come back to hear what is happening with the market.
This Saturday, South Park is on Sale!
1,000 homes (more or less) join together for a yard, garage, alley sale extravaganza! Discover Seattle’s family-friendly 100 year old neighborhood along the Duwamish River this Saturday, August 28, 11am-6pm, free outdoor movie “Up” at 8:30pm. Musicians, pirates, treasure, homebrew, Salsa dance party, fresh produce from Market on Wheels! It CAN happen in South Park, 98108, Cloverdale to 14th Ave S.
If you are from outside South Park or even in SP and want to to sell your wares at the market, come at 9am with $10 for your space rental. Bring your own tables and canopy. No electricity is available.
Make a day of it, Market, Dinner & Movie
South Park has it going on. This Saturday is Market on Wheels day, with vendors, food, fun and good neighbors. Then the local restaurants are serving up some specials for the day…after dark the free outdoor cinema starts with the showing of “Where the Wild Things Are. Some chairs are provided, but also bring beans bags, blankets or your own folding chairs. Join us in South Park and see what all we have to offer.
Important Vendor Meeting: Friday, Aug 13, 7pm at the South Park Neighborhood Center (corner of 10th & Southern)
Important changes will be discussed at this Friday night’s vendor meeting. We need your help, suggestions and comments. We need to take a pulse of how things are going and tell you also what we are doing to make things better.
Please join us promptly at 7pm. Rosa will lead the meeting in Spanish and there will be an intrepetator for us English speaking folks (I love this about our market).
